Mission Of Burma “Second Television”
While there’s been a seemingly endless stream of post-punk heroes reuniting over the last decade that are either brief or seem like under-practiced cash ins (see last week’s Jesus & Mary Chain show), there have been a few standouts who have picked up again, like nothing ever happened. Along with Wire and a few others who have gotten back to together to keep making new music, Mission Of Burma fall squarely in this category. It’s been a couple months since their 3rd post-reunion album Unsound and “Second Television” is a pretty fair representation of what current Burma sounds like. With a chorus that echoes back to the band’s classic era and an outro highlighting just the kind of racket these guys can still make. Catch them in a rare small venue tonight at the 400 Bar, or be sorry.
