Holy Ghost! “It Gets Dark”
I was initially a skeptic of Holy Ghost!, assuming them a nother DFA affliated electro dance band that were riding the coatails of the first Rapture single to a few bucks. While there were amazing bands that came up from that scene (LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Shit Robot, etc), most seemed like cheesy derivatives and tried to make up for their lack of chops with shineyer synths and crisper production, whcih just made them seem even more canned. Holy Ghost! proved to me that you shouold never assume with their outstand self titled debut LP. Now they are back with the charging “It Gets Dark,” which is just as hard hitting and dance floor ready as the material on their debut. Not sure what it is for (maybe LP2?), but either way it is good to hear from them again and even better that at least for now they are proving their initial work was not a fluke.
