Introducing: Prissy Clerks “Bruise or Be Bruised”
The faces, if not the sound, are familiar in Prissy Clerks. The band rose from the ashes of Total Babe (with some help from Howard Hamilton III of Red Pens) and are now releasing their debut LP Bruise or Be Bruised on the local Forged Artifacts Record Label. The 11 songs are slightly fuzzy, slightly poppy and angularly melodic throughout. From the somber “Wiset” to the shogaze pop of “No Sir” to the woozy, psychedelic strut of “Psychic Love,” Bruise of Be Bruised is an entertaining and well crafted take on the indefinable genre “alt rock.” Singer Clara Salyer is the unsurprising highlight as she provides the glue with her passionate yet powerful vocals on this well crafted LP . Listen to the record below, buy it from Forged Artifacts and see them tomorrow (Sat) night at the 7th Street Entry for their record release show.
