Dark Dark Dark: “What I Needed”

dark dark dark what i needed

Record Store Day is almost upon us, which means soon Ebay will be bustling with the jingle jangle of commerce!  Though I am usually loathe to list most of the various offerings to be had on said occasion, new music from local-ish band Dark Dark Dark is always an occasion for celebration.  The group will be releasing three tracks “held back” from last year’s record Who Needs Who.  As if you needed further evidence of DDD’s globetrotting wanderlust, the new material will only be released in the UK (bollocks, innit mate?).  But, if you don’t want to drop a bunch of pounds on the import or (heaven forbid) visit the godforsaken island, you can at least hear one of the tracks, “What I Needed,” which is currently available for streaming. The Nona Marie Invie fronted track (as most of the group’s songs are these days) starts off almost sounding like its going to end up as a bouncy showtune before it moves squarely in a 60’s pop direction (a la Shangri-Las).  Have a listen below and maybe at some point we’ll hear the rest?
