Ducktails “Letter of Intent” (Show TONIGHT at the Turf)
Ducktails have ventured pretty far in their existance, from a vehicle for Real Estate guitarist Matt Mondanile to explore hazy sonic guitar instrumentals to their latest LP The Flower Lane. The best example for the expanded sound is the song “Letter of Intent,” which is above. The song features a breathy vocal duet by Future Shuttle’s Jessa Farkas and Big Trouble’s Ian Drennan and is by far the most polished and pop-centric material the band has crafted. While I really dug the headphone zone-out trips that the band previously created, you can’t really argue with the new sound when the result is as pristine and cathcy as “Letter of Intent.” You can see the band tonight (Saturday, 3/30) at the Turf Club in St. Paul.
