Condominium “Carl” (7″ Release Show Tonight!)
Did you hear the news? Local hardcore/punk/sludge group Condominimum were picked up by Sub Pop and written about in pitchfork! Of course means that now the local press can write about them, although they won’t get “discovered” in as much depth as if they were on a reality TV show. Oh well, luckily for Condominium they are a really great band who have been grinding away (pun intended) locally for the last few years and have earned every ounce of attention. Hell, we had them on our “Next Big Thing” post from 2011, which I am sure is what got Sub Pop to find them. Their latest release is the previously mentioned 7″ that Sub Pop is putting out, and you can listen to the pummeling “Carl” below. The track rides a wave of jittery drums and fuzzed to hell bass to post-hardcore nirvana, clearly distilling the clear eyed and closed fist fury that they do so well. It is nice to see these guys getting some well deserved attention. Catch their commanding live show tonight for the release of this fine record at the Hack Factory (3119 E 26th Street in Minneapolis) with Teenage Moods, Kontrasekt and Wild Child–all for only three bucks!
