Mac DeMarco “My Kind of Woman” & Jamaican Queens “Kids Get a Way” (Show TONIGHT)
EDIT: Mac Demarco cancelled. Jamacian Queens will now be headlining this show with Aaron and the Sea.
Like you alt-rock a little cross eyed? How about gap-toothed? Well, strap on your vans and skate over here—we got some shit you might like. Two bands that will find the oddest possible way to sneak ear-candy hooks into your brain are coming together for a show tonight in Minneapolis. Mac DeMarco is the more well known of the two, with last years Rock and Roll Night Club EP really getting him on the radar of many music fans. Watch below to the woozy, brittle “My Kind of Woman” from his not quite as great but still solid LP 2, also out last year. Both show a really talented young dude who is having fun and doing shit his way. Joining Mac and his band are the duo Jamaican Queens, who have a bit more going on aesthetically, but subscribe to the “weirder the better” mantra that DeMarco does so well. A little MGMT vibe on the acoustic but colorful jam “Kids Get Away,” which you can dig below. You can see both bands, along with locals Aaron and the Sea, for a cool $12 tonight at the 7th Street Entry.
