Empire Status “Bengazi” (Free album listening party TONIGHT)
Empire Status is a duo of local MC Muja Mesiah and Audio Perm alum Bobby Raps, a group that came to life out of a mutual affection for the TV show Boardwalk Empire. The first song from the album, “Bengazi,” features production by Bobby Raps and features rhymes from both. It is a slow burning track that highlights the feel of the album, mixing tales from the two rappers lives with the story line from the TV show, including opening with audio from the show. It is a gritty, bombastic track that, along with getting attention for having the Weeknd jump in on production, should open some doors for this new(ish) duo.
