Omar Souleyman “Wenu Wenu”

Good news, everyone. After hearing about the “debut” studio LP from Omar Souleyman, produced by Four Tet, for the last few months, we finally have a dizzying track to chew on. “Wenu Wenu” is classic Souleyman. One part Syrian Dabke music mixed with incessant dance music, the track is as sharp of representation of Souleyman’s music as has been pressed to wax so far. While his previous releases were comps from his endless catalog of live tapes, Wenu Wenu is the first time Souleyman has been given the cadaliac treatment in a studio, let alone joining forces with a talent like Four Tet. We were already excited for the Wenu Wenu, and the seven minute scorcher of a title track only increases that feeling.
