King Tuff’s Was Dead LP has, over time, become an album generally looked at as one of “those” records. You know “those” records, the ones that if you claim ignorance to its existence or don’t sufficiently sing their praise, your music nerd friends tilt their heads ever so slightly and raise their eyebrows in scorning disapproval. Since being re-released on Burger Records a few months back, it has been enjoyig its scraggly haired victory lap, and now what may be its finest song is getting the video treatment. While most of the record is dripped in organ and fuzz, “Sun Medallion” is an acid-friend acoustic jam that takes a few listens to really unfurl its magnetic genius.
