Introducing: Marisa Anderson
Marisa Anderson is a criminally slept-on guitarist from Portland who draws on a wide range of influences from Blues to Eastern Ragas in her flatpicked solo compositions. Working primarily with electric and lap steel guitar, Anderson produces works that stylistically get pretty far-out while simultaneously maintaining a familiarly rootsy appeal. It’s pretty easy to make the Fahey or Sandy Bull comparison, but Anderson’s work is pretty amazing in its own entirely unique way. Just how is best heard rather than told – and Anderson will give you a chance to hear her on October 3rd. She’ll be playing a free 6pm show at Treehouse Records, on the corner of 26th and Lyndale. She’ll also be performing at the new Bedlam Theater space later that evening.
