Introducing: Has A Shadow
Has Shadow are a gritty, scuzzy psychedelic rock band out of Guadalajara, Mexico. They are relatively new (at least to my radar) and recently released their debut record Sky is Hell Black on Captcha Records. The album is a pitch-black collection of lo-fi psych rock, the principal ingredients being Drone and Doom. I don’t know the band is considering it a single, but standout track “Drive” features this fantastically bizarre video that looks like it was cut from pieces of some vintage noir thriller. The song itself is a nightmare of guitar distortion, pulsing organ, and drugged-out atonal vocals, all adding up to s superbly crafted piece of music oozing with mystery and tension. Hopefully these guys make it up north for a tour sometime – I imagine a show here with Leisure Birds that could be a match made in heaven.
