Introducing: Diver Dress
Diver Dress are a brand new (circa 2012) garage/punk quartet coming at us from the basements and attics of Minneapolis. A self-styled DIY band, the group does their own recording and generally seems to play wherever will have them from house venues to local mainstays. Their sound skews heavily garage, with elements of punk and surf rock thrown in. Guitarist Aaron LeMay and bassist Angie Kilcher trade lead vocal duties. LeMay seems the more reserved of the two (one of Kilcher’s refrains is “suck my clit”) though they both present a fairly uniformly aggressive front. Backing LeMay and Kilcher are Aaron Sapp (guitar) and Drew Erickson (Drums) since the band apparently couldn’t find a drummer whose name started with an “A.” Diver Dress currently has an 8” EP out entitled The Silence, which you can stream below or purchase via here (vinyl) or their bandcamp site (digital). Hymnies and Treehouse apparently also carry copies (though there are only 50 total so if you are getting one you might want to hurry). The band doesn’t seem to have any shows scheduled currently but they seem to play pretty regularly so keep an eye out – I’m sure it won’t be long until they are coming to a venue near you.
