I just started listening to young, talented rapper Angel Haze’s Classick Mixtape the other day and now I can’t stop. The short album contains a bunch of covers (Lauryn Hill, Eminem, etc) with Haze’s own alternative hard-hitting lyrics. Haze takes each song and spins it into a tale of empowerment – made all the more poignant by the artist’s hardcore, no-frills rapping style. she does a little singing too at times but it doesn’t seem to be her true passion (on “Bitch Bad” after a few verses she is like “fuck the vocal part”). definitely recommended listening.
