Battlerat: “The Slowest Song”
Battlerat the nom de guerre of local multi-instrumentalist Celeste Heule. Heule’s arsenal of mediums include the piano, singing saw, singing voice, and accordion. Heule has assembled a backing band of locals consisting of members of Sleeping in the Aviary, Hot Freaks, Tickle Torture, and Kitty Rhombus to record her debut record, which will become available this Spring (releasing 4/19 at the 331 club). You can check out a single, “The Slowest Song” from it via the video above. Far from being slow, ‘The Slowest Song” is a jaunty little accordion and piano number that brings to mind both the smart piano pop of Fiona Apple as well as the dirge-y, baroque eloquence of locals Dark Dark Dark.
