Premiere: Miami Dolphins “Free Way”
With Becky, twitchy local four piece Miami Dolphins will be bringing their technicolor art-punk to the glorious world of vinyl via the good folks at FPE Records. They’ve been wowing crowds with their hyperactive shows and dropping self-released tapes around the Twin Cities since 2011, but both in their live sound and now on Becky, they seem ready to take the leap to even higher ground. We’re excited to premiere a “Free Way,” a track from the front half of their 13 track, 28 minute debut full length. The song is actually one of the less obtuse tracks on the record, with mostly-clear vocals chirping over power chords and a almost linear rhythm section. The track sounds downright restrained and controlled compared to other more frantic material throughout the record (and their past material), a song that shows the bands ability to stretch out without watering down their sound. Continuing what has made them great on previous material, “Free Way” meshes the sweet and sour with a mixture of jagged post-punk music and confident, well-manicured vocals from their lead singer Beth. The whole LP, which will drop August 16, is an exciting ride and should serve as a grand coming out party for this under appreciated local band. Stream the song below, pre-order the record from FPE Records HERE, and keep an eye out for news about the record release show in the coming weeks.
