Sifu Hotman “Matches” (Release show TONIGHT!)
“Matches,” which you stream above, is a new gem from Sifu Hotman, the trio of MCs Guante & Dem Atlas with the jazzed-up beats of Rube. It comes off their forthcoming Embrace the Sun release. Like their self-titled EP that dropped last year, it tangles together the verbal prowess of two great rappers with the upbeat, outside the box sonic templates from Rube. It is a fun-yet-serious, focused-yet-playful “side project” that continues to rise above that distinction.
You can see them tonight at Intermedia Arts for their release show, which will feature short solo sets from all three, plus a full Sifu Hotman set. It is all ages and runs 7-9, and there will be a dance crew there as well. All for $5.
