Steve Palmer: “Six Dollar Sunglasses”
We were pretty bowled over by local guitarist Steve Palmer when he opened for Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band the other night at the Entry. So I am pleased to hear that Palmer has a new LP called Unblinking Sun, which will be coming out soon (9/11) on German DIY label Dying For Bad Music. Palmer, who is a very skilled practitioner of the American Primitive style of guitar (think John Fahey), recently recorded a home video for the track “Six Dollar Sunglasses.” The track will appear on Unblinking Sun, and if the rest of the record is this good, the LP is going to be a must-have for fans of the genre. We’ll keep you posted with developments regarding the release, and for now enjoy the tune below.
