VIDEO: F I X “Firewalking”
F I X is a collective featuring local gloom rap titans Kill the Vultures and No Bird Sing, along with their collaborative project Mixed Blood Majority and Kristoff Krane. When I saw a new track from the group, I wasn’t sure who would be part of a “F I X” song, but wasn’t surprised to find Joe Horton (No Bird Sing) & Crescent Moon on the mic and Graham O’Brien (drummer/producer for No Bird Sing and many others) & Anatomy on the beats. It is a dark and uncompromising joinery through a dark alleyway, with the MCs burning through their verses over ominous chords and tinkling keys. It is a mixture of the dark indie rap the group do so well with a nod to the kind of beats that can fill up the club. It isn’t clear if this is a one-off or part of a future LP, but either way it is a outstanding representation of these great local artists.
