Its that time of the year again, election season! And what election could be more important than the one in which as a music scene we all get together and vote for our own bands and our friends’ bands and the bands on our labels in order to figure out who is “picked to click?” That’s right, its time for the City Pages annual new band contest (“new”perhaps should be in quotation marks). Last year’s winner was Lizzo (in fact she’s won the last two years in a row). Who will it be this year? We are each making some guesses to try and see who can come closest to predicting the scene’s new king/queen. Come late October we’ll be able to see who was right, who was wrong, and which local bands will be profiled in the CP’s annual music issue.
