Mystery Date: “Wouldn’t You Like to Know”/Release Show
Mystery Date is a punk/power pop trio out of Minneapolis that plays rock n’ roll with heartfelt intensity, a bit of haphazard rebelliousness, and a healthy dose of angst. I have seen them compared to the Replacements, but I don’t think Replacement fandom is essential to get these guys. Its punk rock, from the heart, and though its been done by lots of bands it still appeals on a basic gut level.
The band has a new record, New Noir, coming out on 1/17 on Piñata Records. Judging by the first single “Wouldn’t You Like to Know,” the album could be quite good. You can stream the catchy tune below you can catch the album release at the Eagles Club where they will play with Teenage Strangler and VATS (or even pre-order the record here).
