Stream the latest garage-punk from local standouts The Blind Shake & Birthday Suits
The Blind Shake and Birthday Suits are two peas in a kick-ass pod, and two of the most consistent rock bands our fair cities have had over the last decade. Always ready to crank it to 11, both are held in high regard for their amazing live shows, but also know how to put on the foil when putting their fuzzed-out on wax. The Blind Shake have been tapping their inner Ty Segall lately, with a variety of releases, including the great Modern Surf Classics with ex-Rocket from the Crypt/Drive like Jehu frontman Swami John Reis. Their forthcoming record Fly Right will be dropping on the garage rock institution Sloveny Records, and you can hear four separate tracks from the record below. They are all great, but I’d recommend the heavy and dramatic title track if you only have time for one. Birthday Suits have been away for a bit, but will blast back into our existence with their Recess Records released Spin the Bottle: Adult Party release. You only have one option to preview from their forthcoming release, which is the spry, charging “Happy Man Forty Two Late.”
It is great to have both back, and we look forward to hearing all of these records. Can’t wait to hear them live.
