Introducing: What Tyrants and their shambolic garage pop (Show TONIGHT!)

What Tyrants are a trio from Minneapolis who seem intent on packing as many riffs, filtered through a fuzzy lens of garage pop, into their 13 song debut No Luck. From sneering, garage-funded 12-bar blues to proto-pop circa grunge, No Luck has a sumptuous mix of guitar heroics and frayed, leather jacket and ripped jeans swagger. While it isn’t covering much in the way of new ground, it tackles the subject with confident vigor that brings the songs to life, especially on tracks like “Dancehall #2” and album single “No Luck.”

Released on the great Forged Artifacts label, you can stream/buy No Luck below, or at their release show tonight at a the Triple Rock. The show will find What Tyrants joined by noisy pop/garage kindred spirits Fury Things, Some Pulp and Ripper, with members of Stereo Confession spinning tunes between sets.
