Dig tracks from Mrs.’s new LP City (Release show/AmRep kickoff TONIGHT!)
Tonight, as part of the kickoff party for the AmRep 15 Bash, local trio Mrs. will be celebrating the release of their new LP City. Above you can sample the title track and two others jams from the record, and get a taste of the decidedly AmRep-esqe sound. The guitars are stringy yet heavy, the melodies are off-kilter, the rhythm is deep but skittish. The songwriting is far from linear, but allows for catchy melodies and a deep groove to wiggle out from under the weight of the chaos. In short, they are carrying on the spirit of AmRep for all the weirdos out there who guitar/bass/drums but aren’t ready to succumb to the boredom of most rock and roll. The whole LP will be available on their bandcamp in the coming days.
Joining Mrs. tonight at Grumpys downtown will be the always great Seawhores and Shadows in the Cracks, a Blind Shake side project. Before the show there will be a 7pm screening of the AmRep documentary The Color of Noise. All of the Friday night fun is free of charge.
