Listen to the hypnotic, noisy chaos of Mark McGuire’s new song “Earth: 2015”
For those who know Mark McGuire, jumping into his new track “Earth: 2015” may be a bit jarring. For those who don’t, it may be a lot jarring. The press material with the song mentioned that it sounds like you have multiple tabs open on your computer competing with each other, and while that sounds like an insult, it makes perfect sense. If you can stick out the initial onslaught, it turns into a classic McGuire track, with epic waves of synths and guitars frantically climbing on top of each other, a rush that builds and builds over the 10+ minutes the track churns. Coming from McGuire’s forthcoming Beyond Belief LP, it is a mesmerizing track that shows McGuire has the talents to go back to the well and still make something that sounds great.
