Listen to the joyous Afro funk/pop of Tal National’s Zoy Zoy LP
There is an unbridled joy weaving through Zoy Zoy, the second major label release from Niger afro punk/pop band Tal National. The songs, both traditionals and originals, are bright and full of life, with knotty rhythms dancing with searing guitar work and life-affirming melodies. Like their amazing debut Kaani (a Reviler favorite), their new album is both meticulous and freewheeling, an album that highlights a band who create music without boundaries. You can listen to choice cuts from the album below (which came out this spring) and join us in crossing your fingers that the band return to Minneapolis, where they performed one of our favorite live shows of 2013 at the now defunct Belmore, with their infectious live show.
