Stream the new EP ‘Flood Dosed’ by funky noise band Guerilla Toss
In the wonderful bizarro world where I listen to my music, I can honestly listen to “Flood Dosed” by Guerilla Toss and proclaim “this is a moderation of their sound.” While new listeners might be surprised by that statement, given that the kalidescope electronic-noise-funk contained on this scintillating EP, it is a statement that rings true. From their previous releases, the edges are softened a bit, although they are still squealing, mind-bending edges of electronic influenced garage-funk. The vocals are a bit clearer in the mix, but they still are streaks and moans, more punching through the melodies than weaving into them. The grooves are a bit deeper, but this still isn’t going to be played at your local nightclub anytime soon. It is a focused in the rights ways, and whacked out in the right ways as well. Flood Dosed is as enticing and confusing as their predecessors, yet feels like a step forward. Their warped vision of pop/noise/funk/electronic music is refreshing and hypnotic, and this seems like a great steps towards new boundaries for this rising East Coast band.
