New LCD Soundsystem: “Christmas Will Break Your Heart”
Any new LCD Soundsystem is a good thing, so a new track and rumors of more work from the seminal group are reasons to be very excited as we enter into 2016. Listen above to “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” a mopey balled from James Murphy and his gang that they’ve apparently been tossing around for years, and finally recorded this year (it is out on 7″ soon). If you are waiting for a “Dance Yrself Clean” like ramp up, don’t hold your breath, as this is a tears-in-your-eggnog kind of jam, with lyrics like “what if they don’t love you anymore.” Warm and fuzzy, it is not. Murphy said they cut down on the length to keep the “suicide rate in check,” but gloomy or not, it is a new LCD Soundsystem song, so we’ll drink to that.
