Initial Lineup for Drone Not Drones 2016 — including Bonnie “Prince” Billy!
Drone Not Drones has been one of our favorite local events of the year for the last few years, and it will be back this winter bigger and better than ever. Still spanning 28 straight hours, still happening at the one-and-only Cedar Cultural Center, and still benefiting Doctors Without Borders, this has quickly become one of the very best musical events each year in Minnesota. And the 2016 version will include 100% more Bonnie “Prince” Billy! The legendary musician is confirmed to join the festivities. (He also has a new song from a forthcoming Drag City release, posted below, but that feels secondary to this news. Maybe listen to the song while you read the rest of this post, yeah?)
In addition to the awesome news about BPB — who will be playing with Dosh — the Drone Not Drones team has relased the initial lineup (listed below) and promised many more names will be coming out in the weeks leading up to the event. You shouldn’t need any more of a push, so head to the event’s Facebook page (here) and follow the link to buy tickets for this can’t-miss event. Great music and a great cause…and you can fall asleep on the floor of the Cedar listening to haunting ambient music. What’s not to love?
Full lineup is TBD, but includes:
Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy, etc) & Dosh
Alan Sparhawk (of Low)
Paul Metzger
Peter Conheim (Negativland, Jet Black Hair People, Malcolm Mooney, Neung Phak / Mono Pause, etc.)

STNNNG
The Telescopes (UK)
Padhandlers (Ryan Olson & James Buckley)
Matt Jencik (of implodes)
