Listen to local R&B/Soul artist Sarah White’s powerful new Laughing at Ghosts EP / Watch “Sirens” video
Sarah White is quickly proving herself to be one of the most engaging and exciting young artists in the Twin Cities, and her latest EP Laughing at Ghosts does nothing to change that. Venturing through a tapestry of neo-soul, R&B and electronic pop, it feels — both musically and lyrically — both timeless and of the current zeitgeist. It is loosely tied to the current movement of polished electronic R&B, but feels more connected to the earth than many artists in the genre. It has the spirit and energy of classic soul/R&B, but doesn’t feel processed. The EP is short, five songs clocking in just over 20 minutes, but packs a powerful, alluring punch that finds it easy to hit repeat. It is the latest in a string of EPs from White, and it seems tailor-made, along with some show-stealing opening slots she has held down recently, to get the buzz machine fully cooking. Check out the full EP below and the great video for “Sirens” above and catch her great live show around town if you get the chance.
