Introducing: Jerkagram (Show Tomorrow Night!)
Being a rock duo can be tough. Being a rock band with your twin brother can be tough. Jerkagram is both yet never sound like just two people. Their newest record Outer Limbs covers a lot of ground over its eight tracks from the opening march of “Coat of Arms” to the 90s Chicago style jazzy post rock of the closer “Empty Gesture”. “Cloud Builder” bounces along as a busy piece of math rock before the next track “Three Pillars” is a slow burn post rock build. The band even tackles some drone into AmRep style riffage in the excellent “Orphaned Origin”. For all its twists and turns though, Outer Limbs always feels like an extension of the same band seamlessly floating from genre to genre. Jerkogram’s webpage promises an ever evolving live set and that two shows are never the same so catch this one while you have the chance.
Jerkagram play Reverie (formerly The Nicollet) tomorrow night (3/30) with Animal Lover, Sex Problem, Psybeams and CHUB. More details here.
