Stream an EP from MMYYKK (of ZULUZULUU)
Local funk collective ZuluZuluu recently got their long overdue moment in the sun, getting “picked to click” in the annual local City Pages’ poll. And while ZuluZuluu are great, they are so because they are made up of a bunch of talented individuals. One of those is Myke Shevy, or MMYYKK as he goes by as a solo artist. Shevy has a couple of great EP’s worth of material on his bandcamp page and you can stream the most recent, Astral Beat Theories Vol.2, below. Much like he does in the collective, Shevy sings smooth-as-butter over spaced out funky beats. Volume 2 is the second part of a series of EP’s being released this Fall by members of ZULUZULUU. The first was Proper-T’s Astral Beats Volume 1 and the last will be released next week (all via Sound Verite Records).
