TONIGHT: Drone Not Drones IV at the Cedar (w/ full lineup)

The fourth annual Drone Not Drones benefit show is upon us, and once again it is something you should clear your calendar to check out. Starting at 7pm tonight (Friday 2/24) with International Novelty Gamelan, there will be continuous drone/ambient/whatever music for 28 straight hours at the Cedar Cultural Center, culminating with headlining “sets” Saturday night the great noise artist Circuit des Yeux at 9:30 and Sonic Youth vet/general cool artist Lee Ranaldo at 10:15. In between you’ll see a smorgasbord of local and national artists giving their version of “drone,” from Alan Sparhawk of Low to Steve Hauschildt (formerly of Emeralds) to Reviler favorites Dosh, American Cream, STNNNG, Anonymous Choir, Tiny Deaths, Dead Gurus, Flavor Crystals and literally dozens more. It is always a cool event, and the proceed benefit Doctors Without Borders, so whether you can stay for 28 straight hours (probably not suggested), pop in for a few sets or make multiple visits to the West Bank, you’ll be supporting amazing local music and a world-class non-profit saving lives in some of the worst war zones in the world.
