Local producer Psymun drops first track “I Need My Boy” from forthcoming EP on Ghostly International
Psymun is best known locally (and nationally) for his work with the The Stand4rd, but I’ve always really dug his murky instrumentals that he puts out when not doing that work. For his latest batch of hazy beats, he has joined forces with the great electronic label Ghostly International for a three song EP called Rainbow Party. You can hear one of the songs, the pysch dirge of “I Need My Boy,” which is five minutes of misty synths, pulsing bass lines and somber drums. It is a funhouse track that, even at a speed so glacial you feel like it slows down the blood pumping in your veins, highlights the cool work Psymun is pulling together and showcases a sound that I think will be getting a lot of attention.
