Stream another great mixtape from local Sound Verite Records
Jon Jon Scott, who runs Sound Vertie Records (and also contributes to this site), is a man who has his finger on the pulse the hip hop/R&B/Rap/Funk/Soul scene here in the Twin Cities. Lucky for us, he is kind enough to share his depth of knowledge with those of us who are hopelessly behind. His latest offering is the second volume of Sound Verite mixtape series, which collects 19 songs from multiple local artists and was released a few weeks back. From sparkling R&B to space funk to heady rap, it is a polished yet earthy mix that highlights some of the most forward-thinking artists in our scene right now. There are plenty of familiar names (Zuluzuluu and their solo projects, Muja, Parables of Neptune, Maria Isa, etc), but the cool thing is there are plenty of new names that really bring home the mixtape.
