1. Oddisee & Good Company ft. Oliver St. Louis at 7th Street Entry: hands down the best concert I’ve seen so far this year, and will be tough to top. Oliver St. Louis was tearing the place up as an opening act, and the show kicked to a higher gear when Oddisee came out with his lightning speed flow. Best live band I’ve ever seen in that small of a club.
2. Patti Smith and Her Band perform Horses at Northrup
3. Tinariwen at the Cedar
4. Run the Jewels at Myth
5. The Shouting Matches at the Oxbow Hotel
6. Andrew Broder & People at the Turf Club: I slipped on the ice and broke elbow my walking home from the train after the second installment of Andrew Broder’s residency at The Turf, but I still loved it. Recovered and went back the next week.
7. Bon Iver presents John Prine & the American Songbook at Eaux Claires
8. The New Pornographers at First Ave
9. Rich Mattson & the Northstars at the Turf
10. Vulfpeck at First Ave: I love those goofy bastards, and it was my birthday.
