Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band take cosmic guitar-psych to even higher places on new song

Chris Forsyth and his Solar Motel Band have been chugging along creating first-rate cosmic guitar-psych over the last half decade or so, often creating a sound that evokes a dusty spaghetti western if it was set on a distant planet. On the title track from their forthcoming LP “Dreaming in the Non-Dream,”the band shed a bit of the headiness for a steam engine of churning guitar-kraut. 15 minutes of it, to be exact. The song melds stringy guitar stabs with goo-y, effect-laden rhythms, all kept in line with incessant motorik drumming. Like the best of their previous work, it is expansive but somehow feels like it doesn’t go on long enough. When you get to the end of a 15 minute song and immediately want to his repeat, you know the band has done something right. If you like what you hear, you can head to the website of their label No Quarter to pre-order the LP, which officially comes out August 25th.
