Stream outstanding new LP of immaculate pop music from Doug Tuttle
Listening to Doug Tuttle I can’t help but think of the premise of the Truman Show. Is this music, so sleek, polished and warm, too good to be true? Is there a catch? Do a want melodies this saccharine, instrumentals this lush, vocals this rich? So far I’ve tried not to think too much about it (or too much more than I already am), and am trying to allow myself the headspace to simply soak in the 15 immaculate songs on Peace Potato, Tuttle’s latest LP that dropped earlier this year on Trouble in Mind records. This is a record that skims liberally from giants like the Beatles, The Byrds, Elliot Smith and Big Star, shooting for the stars and, frankly, hitting the mark more often than not. Tuttle, formerly of Mmoss and now on his third solo LP, seems to somehow able to stay below the radar despite writing songs that seem timeless. You can listen to his new LP below and see for yourself.
