Listen to hypnotic socio-political music from Mary Ocher (Minneapolis Show MONDAY!)
Mary Ocher makes a decidedly left-field version of socio-political art rock, stretching sounds and genres. The undercurrent of the music is her unblinking social commentary, which, in this off-kilter setting, actually doesn’t feel too in your face, despite its clear place of prominence. The work on her most recent LP The West Against the People ranges from floating ambient synths to Knife-esqe weirdo pop, with driving motorik beats galloping her soundscapes forward. Listen to an example of the chill above and some of the more propulsive versions below.
You can see Ocher in Minneapolis when she plays the 7th St Entry Monday night with locals Stolyette and In/Via. Doors at 7:30 and tickets at the door cost $12. More info/RSVP HERE.
