Listen to the mind-bending footwork of Dj Taye’s “Trippin” and see the rising artist Tuesday in Minneapolis
Chicago artist DJ Taye’s track “Trippin” is a song that both pays tribute to the footwork of Teklife while carving out a new sound within the genre. It has the skittish beat and spinning melodies, but it mixes in the confident strut of more mainstream hip-hop. It feels both timeless and from the future. While the song alone is worth the price of admission, and will easily slot into one of my favorite tracks of the year, the whole album Still Trippin by the young dj is a lush adventure of footwork, electronic music, instrumental hip hop and more. It is one of the most compelling albums of this year, hands down. You can listen to the full album via his bandcamp page below.
DJ Taye will be making a stop in Minneapolis Tuesday night at Honey. Tickets cost $7 in advance and DJ Taye will be joined by Purple Orange Beach, Andrew Broder and Ghostband. More info HERE.
