Evicted: Tongue Party’s August Residency @ Downtown Grumpy’s – Pt. 4: Trash Catties & the Drug Budget
You: “Good-bye.”
Me: “Hello.”
Sorry, that’s another Beatles reference…
…but the end is nigh, y’all. TONGUE PARTY will complete their August residency at Downtown Grumpy’s this Saturday, August 25th, and it’s going to be a total eclipse of the heart (amongst other organs and body parts).
The Twin Cities’ favorite musical couple, Trash Catties, will be fiddling and bassing their quixotic melodies to grand effect, and the midwest’s own musical equivalent of John Carpenter’s the Thing, the Drug Budget, will be making a mess of things in the most splendid way possible – their own!
I just heard “I Shit Ghosts” for the first time today; and I’m not sure if it’s the Robitussin talking, but I dig this business very much. We’ll see if I can’t make it out to the end of the beginning of the end.
TONGUE PARTY are great for providing a proper local-flavored farewell to Downtown Grumpy’s. Albeit pure coincidence, their success is nonetheless apropos, if not inspiring. It’s getting harder and harder to do anything cool outside of the mainstream, capitalist paradigm, but Mpls refuses to lose. Kudos, Mpls; and kudos TONGUE PARTY. Y’all keep doin’ it.
