Warren Thomas Fenzi: “Viven” EP Release Show Tonight (12/4)
Warren Thomas Fenzi’s latest EP Viven (Kremblems) utilizes it’s title as both a literal and figurative tool. Literal in its female personification and figuratively in that he links the Spanish word “viven” (they live) to the broader idea of representing the “choice we all have to make, every single day…to live our lives in the best way we can.”
That idea of aspirational living manifests itself in the clear-eyed sincerity of Fenzi’s three tracks. Against a gorgeous backdrop of sumptuously produced instrumentation (including amongst other things some impressive guitar theatrics, synths, strings, and brass) Fenzi anchors his sound with hefty emotional weight. The pathos that comes across in his singing and lyricism is such that it’s almost a tangible quality of his music – you can very nearly feel the feels that he’s putting out there. Fenzi has clearly gone through some shit that has given him a great deal of perspective on his own life – and his music is all the better for it.
Experience the highs and lows alongside Fenzi at his release show at the Icehouse (tix/info) where he’ll be performing with Delphia Cello Quartet.
