Spellling: “Under The Sun”
Few albums so far in 2019 have wowed me as much as Mazy Fly, the forthcoming new record from Oakland’s Spellling (a project by Tia Cabral). Mazy is a R&B tinged synth pop masterpiece of pop beauty, ethereal weirdness, and unsettling undertones. That trichotomy is perhaps best exemplified in the recently released single “Under the Sun,” which is a mix of warped keyboard beats, pitch dark atmosphere, and haunting, dreamy vocals by Cabral. Stream it below and get the whole thing on 2/22 when it drops via Sacred Bones.
