Video: Kevin Morby’s “No Halo”
We’ve long been fans of songwriter Kevin Morby’s work so we were pleased to hear that he had announced a new record and accompanying tour recently (alas, no TC tour dates yet). The new record is called Oh My God and will be a concept album centered around themes of religion (though Morby himself does not identify as “religious” per se). It’s an intriguing premise that could either sink or swim depending on how its executed.
A video for the first single “No Halo” was recently released and seems to be an argument for the “swim” category. It’s a bit of a stripped down, spare melody with repetitive mantra-like lyrics. Sam Cohen contributed to the production of the record and some of his influence can be heard in the starker sound. Oh My God will be available 4/26 via Dead Oceans.
