Listen to Songs Off New Albums from Miami Dolphins & Oyster World | Joint Release Show TONIGHT!)

This month Minneapolis label Bumpy (Adam of Larry Wish & His Guys) has released two albums from local misfit bands Miami Dolphins and Oyster World, and tonight the groups will celebrate their music barreling into the unsuspecting world. Oyster World’s Durn Fool is their debut release and is a stemwinder of self-described “prog-punk,” which makes sense when you see the band features members of Catbath, Mrs., & Sass. If you’ve seen them around town, you know their sound is both locked-in and playful, a blend they’ve captured well on their new record. Miami Dolphins, on the other hand, are OGs of the local scene at this point, with Frisbee being the 7th release of their technicolor punk. Their music always has a tightly wound tension that balances on the edge of chaos and joy, and at least from the one song we can sample from the record, they control to churn out funky, maximum-minimalist jams that have made them required listening for a good chunk of the last decade. Listen to new music from both below and buy their records if you like what you’re hearing.

As mentioned above, the groups are hosting a joint release show tonight at the Eagles Club in S. Minneapolis. More info and FB RSVP on the show, also featuring New Primals and Miss Manners (along with lounge piano from label boss Adam), can be found HERE. 9PM / $5 / 21+
