Humbird: “December” / Spring Show
Local experimental/folk artist Humbird writes music that takes traditional forms of Americana and casts them through a prism. The result is music that seems familiar while exuding elements of impermanence and variability. It’s as if one were to look away and then return they might find the delicate arrangements slightly changed by the shifting winds. It’s quite beautiful stuff.
Humbird’s most recent EP Where Else is streamable on their bandcamp page. They also have a newish single out entitled “December” which might have been a little more appropriate listening last week before the latest batch of snow started to melt but nevertheless sounds good in Springtime too.
Humbird has a performance at Moon Palace Books coming up in a few weeks alongside another favorite of ours, Sister Species (tickets / info). Should be an excellent bill all around.
