Listen to Knife Knights (Ish from Shabazz Palaces/Digable Planets) and see’m TONIGHT in Minneapolis
We all know and love Ishmael Butler from his work in Digable Planets and Shabazz Palaces, but apparently he had a different itch to scratch, which resulted in him starting his Knife Knights project with engineer, producer, songwriter, and film composer Erik Blood. On their debut LP 1 Time Mirage, the sound is even more murky and fuzzy than his Shabazz Palaces project, which which is saying something as Ish has never been accused of making glossy rap music. In the promo materials, it is described as mixing shoegaze and soul. They aren’t wrong. Listen above to two songs from the album at the top of the post and if you like it you should dive into the really solid LP that was released at the end of last year.
The duo will be making a stop in the Twin Cities tonight at Icehouse with an outstanding lineup that includes openers Lando Chill and Greg Grease. More info/tickets HERE.
