Listen to new album 2 by local experimental instrumental group Catsax | Release show TONIGHT!

Catsax is a local group group consisting of Nelson Devereaux (horns, synths), Spencer Wirth-Davis aka Big Cats! (Electronics) and Miguel Hurtado (percussion). They’ve been floating around the scene for a while, and just this last week they dropped their latest release, the cleverly titled “2.” Melding languid horns and dusty, Jay Dilla like beats, the group have created a patchwork quilt on their new record that is one of the more engrossing and vivid records I’ve heard this year. There are moments when guest singers punctuate the hazy serenity, but mostly this is a great record to zone out to on a hot summer night. You can stream and purchase the excellent new LP via the bandcamp link below.

Catsax are celebrating the release of their new album tonight (Tue, July 23rd) at the 7th St Entry with with Calvin Krime, Purple Orange Beach and DJ Ysheyellin. More info/RSVP/tickets can be found HERE.
