Local Producer Yon Channels Madlib & Kaytranda on Pulp EP (Show Saturday!)
Yon is a Minneapolis producer (and bass player for Reviler favorite Dizzy Fae) who quietly released a really outstanding beat tape this summer called Pulp. The press materials indicate it was influenced by legendary sonic explorers Madlib and Kaytranda, and it is easy to hear the influence on the five-song EP. The songs have an airy, psychedelic quality to them that creates a woozy atmosphere that it is easy to get lost inside of as the tape rolls. I’ve found myself playing through the short EP and circling right back to the start many times. Check out the EP via their soundcloud page below. Not sure what is next, but Yon is definitely an artist to keep an eye on.
