Sister Species: “Heat Death (Hold Me Here)” / New Record This Spring

We’re always pretty keen to hear what local septet Sister Species is up to and lately they have been keeping us busy! Less than 2 years after 2018’s excellent Heavy Things Do Move, the band will be following up with Still I Am Still which should become available at some point after Winter’s end.

And speaking of Winter’s end, the forthcoming record’s new single, “Heat Death (Hold Me Here),” references the heat death of the universe, Earth’s final long Winter. That is, the moment when our universe achieves thermodynamic equilibrium and settles in for a very long period of cooling in which theoretically all life will be extinguished (if it hasn’t been already by that point).

Lets hope that point is still millions of years away and that we can just listen to Sister Species great new tune will the universe keeps merrily expanding! The jaunty accordion, thought-provoking lyrics, and jubilant three-part trumpet harmonies make it pretty easy to keep any fears of impending doom at bay (at least temporarily).
